First Eco Print Project - October
I´ve done a bit of hammering flowers onto fabric, my six year-old granddaughter loved making as much noise as possible. I´m not convinced that wanting to pick my precious flowers and bash them to pieces is making her appreciate my garden - it may be a one off.
But its eco printing that has caught my attention, it´s something I keep admiring but a bit more hassle than just a hammer, material, foliage and board. I find I´m following more and more eco printers and my Instagram account just keeps showing me more. Enough!
Finally I´ve accumulated the gear - a car-boot-bought pan, fabric sorted and washed, a fat dowel and piece of plastic pipe cut to length and soya milk - bought I had everything assembled. Friday 2nd October was going to be the afternoon trial - and it chucked it down with a bit of hail thrown in, but true Andalucian style the sun then returned and the project began.
With two old, white cotton pillowcases I dunked them in soya milk, squeezed out the excess and lay them on the table, folding in half lengthwise, and then lay the gathered leaves on just one half. Wirh the first one I remembered to take some photos to remember what leaves were what - but I´ve stupidly, accidently deleted them, so I´m trying to write down what I used to be able to see which printed successfully and which didn´t.
The front garden bundle didn´t even get a photo taken, so rapt was I in laying out the design - if it was a design. Now for an hours steaming, an overnight cooling and the excitement of has anything happened will be for tomorrow. I hope boiling doesn´t harm it!
