Andalusia or Andalucía?

The autonomous region of Andalusia (Andalucía in Spanish) is in the southern part of Spain. It spans from Atlantic coast in the west to the sheltered coast of the Mediterranean Sea in the east and from Málaga's Costa del Sol to the borders of Castilla – La Mancha the famous flat lands and Don Quixote windmill country.  With an average of 300 plus days of sunshine a year the coastal area is an all year round destination. New Life, Exploring Sierra Magina, September Wains

What a year! How will we remember 2020? A year of emotional ups and downs.and yet another month rushes past, this one must more exciting than any other this year as my first grandchild (that makes me feel so old) was born. A girl! Finally a little bit of balance creeps into my male oriented household, one husband and three sons make for a huge imbalance. I often count the dog and the cat making 3 females to the 4 males, just to make me feel better!

After the confinement of March, April, May and into June the freedom to stretch wings and burn rubber has been amazing. I have lost a bit of that grounding and appreciation of the lock down, have you? I am taking it for granted that I can jump in the car and head out into them their hills whenever I want. And I have. But for day trips and reccy visits not for many stays this year. One of the areas which really is quite close to home but we don´t know very well is the Sierra Magina. An awesome natural area with stunning backdrops, little white towns dropped onto mountain sides and shady riverbanks.

October is arriving with the uncertainty of freedom of movement being restricted once again but we´re making plans anyway.

My Only Spain Boutique Hotel site has only seen one new addition this year - read on for the link at the bottom! One trip away and by away I mean within Andalucia, not even a visit back to the UK this year and it is not looking likely that there will be either. But excitement reigns as next weekend we head down to  inland Malaga to check out a new B&B which also runs photography classes so roll on blue sky and gorgeous scenery to practice taking photos of.

Where are we going? Ah! You will have to come back to see - if we can still travel that is!
