01M Biodegradable Shoes - Barefoot in Shoes

I wanted to love these shoes, but I didn´t. Spanish made and biodegradable ticked my boxes. The first problem was I ordered ones that flopped about on my feet, I followed the recommended sizing but obviously got it wrong. Mind you I´m not sure I´d have wanted skin-tight rubber ´socks´ on my feet.

The first hiccup was the smell. A fresh, very strong rubber stink meant my other half relegated them outside. Secondly being in a cold snap I wanted more than a 2mm thick sole on the freezing tiles. They hit the outside bathroom until the days warmed and the smell vanished.

Then bravely I de-socked my feet after many winter months and flopped around in my new footwear rather like a kid in her mum´s shoes. The rough ground in our yard made me yelp as stones pierced the soles. I´m a barefoot lover in the summer heat and look where I´m going then. With the 01M shoes on I didn´t feel the need and frequently wished I had.

Then as the days warmed I knew that the shoes needed air holes. You know what it´s like when a hand sweats inside a rubber glove. I didn´t fancy finding out how that felt, or smelt with wringing wet feet.

I love the idea. But they don´t work for me, though I have found a good use for them, they are my gardening slip-ons (with socks) especially when it´s muddy. How long for I don´t know, but these are shoes that will probably biodegrade before they wear out and I am happy they can go in my worm composting bag rather than the bin.

The O1M Onemoment biodegradable shoe has a flexible sole only 2mm thick that allows the foot to walk and run unencumbered by thick padding and means it can be rolled up and stored in a pocket when not being worn. Barefoot running Barefoot, or lightly shod, runners land on the middle or front of their foot. Running in padded shoes alters this pattern, making the runner more prone to land heavily on their heel before rolling onto the forefoot.
