The Wild Asparagus Hunters are Out and About

It´s that time of year. Cars parked in odd places, the solitary person - usually a man, popping up above a bank or from behind an olive tree. The hunters of the wild aparagus are here. The plentiful rain scattered with a day or two of sunshine has brought them out in droves. Some have their route, others instinctively know where to go. They appear, walking back to their cars, with a huge bundle of foot long green spears of asparagus. And off they go, probably not to be seen for another year - or another week if the rain continues. Monday Morning Photo - Empty Road and Snow Capped Sierra Nevada Behind Tree Plantation, Granada

When heading to Granada airport from the north we always go through plantations of poplar trees. This is the area known as 'La Vega' flat and fertile.

Rather pleased with this shot that hubby took, to order, as I was driving. Who gets the credit?

Sierra Nevada, Granada Background, Silver Birch Plantation, La Vega

Taken on 26th January with the Sierra Nevada snow-covered backdrop for lots of great skiing this year. We had a little explore after visiting the newly opened La Casa Grande de Zujaira a sensitively restored 200 year-old house for small private functions as well as a Boutique B&B.

This is the road from Valderubio to Fuente Vaqueros home to the museum of Frederico Garcia Lorca, which sadly we weren't able to visit - next time!

See the Monday Morning Photo list.
