Fresh Fig Harvest Time

It´s the first week in August, my favourite time of year for gathering. Walking the dog quite early because of the temperatures in the late 30s and being able to pick a handful or two of figs on the way home to enjoy for breakfast. The pleasure never fades. Fresh Figs in a Bowl This morning´s haul was two varieties from two different trees. Pale green ones and green and purple ones, which tend to be a bit smaller. If I were to eat them while out walking - which I don´t usually because of the dust on them and the stickiness - I would open them up eat the middle and throw the skin away. When I take them home I wash them and eat the skin as well.  Fresh Figs on Yoghurt When I dry them I cut them into 1/8 pieces, halving them, halving the half then cutting them up again so when they are dried - which doesn´t take long here in Jaén province - they are the size of a big raisin and ready to use in cakes or puddings.
